Dormition of the Mother of God

And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. For He has regarded the low estate of His servant; surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. (Luke 1:46-49)

Leading Russian Orthodox official: the ‘kingdom of freedom’ enslaves people

CWN - Speaking at a rally in Moscow, a leading Russian Orthodox official denounced economic oligarchies and the “kingdom of freedom.”

“We need a virtuous, self-disciplined Russia, strong in its faith, independent, free, not depending on any outside centers of power,” said Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, chairman of the Synodal Department for the Cooperation of Church and Society of the Moscow Patriarchate, according to a report by a Russian news agency.

“We need Holy Rus’, not a kingdom of managers and foul mouths, not the kingdom of freedom, which enslaves people,” he added. “We need to speak again about the things which are inacceptable for us in the country’s life, including the usurpation of economics by a few people who are not controlled by anyone and were not elected, the monopoly of immorality, various silly shows in the cultural and informational field, unlimited encouragement of abortions, promotion of perversions, the industry of vice existing in our society.”
